Create a Shiny Glass Logo in Illustrator (Guest Post)
Making a Shiny Glass Logo in Photoshop is easy but how can we make it in Adobe Illustrator?
You can do it easily with this tutorial, I prepared the images step by step to make it easy for you; also you can see the vector format (.svg) at the end of this tutorial.
1. Open a new document (File > New), we will design 3 circles inside each other, please follow me;
2. Create a circle with the “Ellipse Tool” by holding the Shift Key; name it “base circle”. Fill it with a gradient: blue #42B5FF and white #FFFFFF and add a blue stroke #42B5FF.
4. Copy the “base circle” (Ctrl+C; Ctrl+F). Name it “c2″ and make it a little smaller. Remove the stroke and reflect the gradient: Object > Transform > Reflect > Vertical with 90° for angle.
7. Copy and paste c2; name it “c3” and make it a little smaller. Change the gradient angle by rotating it 90°.
Designing the 3 circles is finished, now we have to design a small shiny part in the top left corner; this will make the logo shinier.
8. Copy c3 and paste it to the side of your artwork (out of the main design). We are going to cut a small part of this circle. Copy and paste it again and make it a little smaller. Put these 2 circles on top of each other (see diagram above).
9. Select these 2 circles and Divide them with Pathfinder (window > pathfinder > divide). We need just the small path between the 2 large paths so remove everything leaving the center-piece. Name it “cornershine”.
10. Decrease the transparency of “cornershine” by going to window > transparency and change the opacity to 77.
11. Place the “cornershine” in the top left corner of the logo.
The main part of Logo is ready, we are going to put an @ symbol inside it;
12. Type an @ with a font you like, it should be italic, otherwise you should skew it a little, choose #42B5FF for the fill and name it “alpha 1”.
13. Copy and paste the @ and name it “alpha 2”; change the color to #FFFFFF and Move it a bit to right; it should be white on blue.
14. The logo will look better with a nice shadow underneath it; so create an ellipse and fill it with this color #698696; blur it by going to Effect > Blur > Caution blur.
15. Type the name under the logo and your shiny logo is ready. You can use all the alphabet letters or other signs instead of @ inside the icon part.

That’s what we’ve all been waiting for! Great ptsonig!
Glad you enjoyed our latest guest blog post. Happy logo creating!
In addition, your feaild at making me look like an idiot and instead you just made yourself look like an idiot by saying it could’ve easily been done in photoshop. you never make logos in photoshop. logos need to be altered in shape and size and if you make it in photoshop you can’t alter either of those without making it pixelated, and that’s going to get you in a lot of trouble. while in illustrator you can resize all you want without having to worry about pixels.
I agree, logos should never be created in a raster based program. Unless you are using it strictly for the web where there is limited need to scale the logo to extreme sizes (such as for a roadside billboard or even store-front sign). Even so, if you ever plan on taking that web-based logo to print in the future, you’re more than likely going to have to hire someone else to recreate the logo in vector format so that its legible at all sorts of sizes.
